EDM, or Electrical Discharge Machining, is easily the most accurate form of machining for those applications where extreme close tolerance is required. It is accomplished with the use of a small amount of controlled current through a wire electrode. Because the process takes place under water, no heat is created. Tolerances of up to .00005 can be achieved with this technique. While this technology was developed specifically for the mold and die industry, we also cut high tolerance keyways, unusual shapes, and extremely hard steel using this equipment.
